Here’s Why I Built 57 Facets Instead<

I Used to Work at Tiffany. Here’s Why I Built 57 Facets Instead

By Alexis Elsey – GIA Graduate, Former Tiffany & Co. Diamond Specialist, Rare Carat Ghostwriter, Head of Product at Precious Carbon, Founder of 57 Facets

Before I launched 57 Facets, I worked in almost every corner of the diamond industry.

I’ve sold multi-million dollar stones at Tiffany. Ghostwrote for startup founders at Rare Carat. Built product roadmaps at a next-gen diamond platform. Personally sourced and sold over $10 million in rings to everyone from first-timers to billionaires.

And after all that?

I realized no one was building a ring-buying experience that actually worked for real people.

I’ve Seen the Industry From Every Angle

At Tiffany & Co., I learned how much emotion lives inside a ring box — and how powerful great service can be.

At Rare Carat, I saw the data, the buyer pain points, the Reddit spirals, the pressure to scale faster than trust could be earned.

At Precious Carbon, I helped build the product from scratch — refining everything from the tone of voice to the tech stack that matched diamonds to buyers.

In every role, I was obsessed with making the diamond experience better. Smoother. Smarter. More human.

But over time, I kept running into the same problem:

Too much choice. Not enough clarity.

What Most Sites Get Wrong

The industry runs on the illusion that more = better. More diamonds. More filters. More “customization.”

You’ve seen it: pages of dropdowns. Thousands of similar stones. 47 nearly identical ring settings. And somehow, you’re supposed to feel confident?

I watched it overwhelm smart, thoughtful people who just wanted to get it right.

It’s not that companies don’t care. It’s that most of them are built to scale inventory — not confidence.

I Built 57 Facets to Flip the Script

57 Facets isn’t a diamond database.

It’s a curated experience. One that lets you choose what matters — and never asks you to pretend to be a gemologist.

Here’s what we do differently:

  • ✨ You choose the diamond size (visually — not by carat weight)
  • ✨ You choose the setting style (Solitaire or Pavé)
  • ✨ You choose the metal (18k Yellow, Rose, or Platinum)
  • 💎 I hand-select your diamond to elite, GIA-backed standards — clarity, cut, brilliance, and overall wow factor

No filters. No fluff. No spreadsheet spiral.

Just the best options — already vetted by someone who’s done this a thousand times before.

This Is the Brand I Needed Back Then

If I’m honest, I didn’t set out to become a founder.

I set out to fix what was broken — for my clients, for the overwhelmed buyers, for the industry I still love (but needed to unlearn).

And the best way to do that was to build something new from the ground up.

A ring buying experience that feels like a deep breath.

You’re not supposed to feel stressed. You’re supposed to feel sure.

That’s what I’m here for. That’s what 57 Facets is about.
